It is hard to present a place you yourself have created and not to get mawkish about it… that’s why I’m going to tell you what we have set out to do, and leave it up to all those who come to Lucky 13 to form their own opinion…
We wanted to listen to blues, jazz and rock, to be surrounded by a warm light, to smell the aroma of coffee, to drink authentic tea served in a porcelain service accompanied by cakes, to offer (our visitors) everything that we had best in the house… with the pleasure of being the host…
We wanted to create a state of mind (to forget about the world for a few hours, to break away from the street, not to feel the heat of summer, the chill of winter or the clouds of autumn), to feel as among friends in the midst of eighty people, to feel the rhythm of the music tapping our fingers on the table or our feet on the floor, to celebrate our successes or to plan our holidays, to feel in our element, surrounded by people like us people who are friendly, tolerant, lively.
We all need a safety place to escape; Lucky 13 may be one of them.
